AIG offers supplemental insurance to help cover expenses associated with various afflictions, such as cancer, heart attack and stroke. AIG also sponsors programs which help patients receive immediate care in the event that they are injured in accidents or are unable to work due to severe illness.
AIG’s CriticalCare Plus plan covers critical illnesses, such as kidney failure, stroke, cancer and heart attack. The plan provides tax-free benefits of up to $500,000 directly paid to the policyholder unless otherwise assigned to a health care provider. Benefits are paid regardless of what other health insurance plans might cover.
CriticalCare is available in four optional term plans of 10, 15, 20 or 30 years’ duration. The plan also comes with a premium repayment, which repays the amount of premiums paid minus any benefits received if the insured dies while the policy is in force.
CriticalCare plan options include benefits protecting medical professionals diagnosed with HIV and having acquired it through work-related duties. A benefits extension option offers coverage for additional diagnoses of critical illnesses – even if having already been diagnosed with the same illness in the past. An accidental death and dismemberment option is similar to term life and pays a lump-sum amount upon the death or accidental dismemberment of the insured party.
AIG’s EmergencyCare Insurance plan offers protection for policyholders and everyone listed under a policy when injured in a covered accident. Coverage can be limited to off-the-job incidents only or around the clock and helps pay for physical therapy and diagnostic exams at no extra cost.
EmergencyCare benefits are paid in lump-sums and help cover costs associated with likely injuries, including sports-related injuries. The plan includes free membership in a discount healthcare provider network and has options available to help pay for lost income, hospitalization costs and to purchase more coverage.
AIG’s Critical Illness Insurance helps protect against financial hardships associated with surviving cancer, stroke and heart attacks. The policy provides a “living benefit” that can be used for anything and can be paid to policyholders or health care professionals if requested by the insured party.
AIG also offers a CancerCare Platinum Plus policy offering an initial diagnosis benefit of $3,000 and provides benefits to help pay for hospital-related needs, including ambulance services, hospital room costs and doctor visits. Benefits also are paid to help cover surgical costs, home nursing, treatments, various diagnostic tests, prosthetics, disability income and other costs. Benefits are paid directly to policyholders to be used as they see fit.
To protect against lost income during critical illness, the AIG offers its Secure Income Plus insurance, which provides a reliable source of income if disabled for any reason. Once a policy is in force, benefits never can be decreased or premiums increased, and if premiums are paid in full upon reaching age 65, they will be returned in full minus any benefits already paid.
Optional benefits include increasing monthly income benefits for no more than six months, a partial monthly disability income benefit for up to six months, a monthly hospital income benefit while confined in a hospital, and an accidental death or dismemberment benefit available as a lump-sum payment.
AIG also offers its Accident Expense Plus plan to help pay for deductibles, copays and other costs not covered by primary health insurance plans. Benefits are paid in lump-sums regardless of other health insurance benefits.
The plan comes with optional deductible amounts of zero to $500 and annual benefit maximums of up to $25,000, depending on which supplemental plans you choose. Plan options include adding family members for policy coverage and covering heart attack, stroke and invasive cancer.
